The Secret of Pembrooke Park

Synopsis from Good Reads:

Julie Klassen Is the Top Name in Inspirational regency Romance

Abigail Foster fears she will end up a spinster, especially as she has little dowry to improve her charms and the one man she thought might marry her–a longtime friend–has fallen for her younger, prettier sister. When financial problems force her family to sell their London home, a strange solicitor arrives with an astounding offer: the use of a distant manor house abandoned for eighteen years. The Fosters journey to imposing Pembrooke Park and are startled to find it entombed as it was abruptly left: tea cups encrusted with dry tea, moth-eaten clothes in wardrobes, a doll’s house left mid-play . . .

The handsome local curate welcomes them, but though he and his family seem to know something about the manor’s past, the only information they offer Abigail is a warning: Beware trespassers who may be drawn by rumors that Pembrooke contains a secret room filled with treasure.

Hoping to improve her family’s financial situation, Abigail surreptitiously searches for the hidden room, but the arrival of anonymous letters addressed to her, with clues about the room and the past, bring discoveries even more startling. As secrets come to light, will Abigail find the treasure and love she seeks…or very real danger?

I’ve read a lot of Julie Klassen books and have enjoyed many of them. While her last couple of books have been a bit of a disappointment for me (especially The Dancing Master), I’m looking forward to her next book and hoping it’s as good as the first ones I’ve read.

The Secret of Pembrooke Park is available December 2, 2014.

In Your Dreams (Blue Heron #4)

In Your Dreams (Blue Heron #4) by Kristan Higgins – September 30, 2014

Synopsis from Good Reads:

Emmaline Neal needs a date. Just a date—someone to help her get through her ex-fiancé’s wedding without losing her mind. But pickings are slim in Manningsport, New York, population 715. In fact, there’s really only one option: local heartthrob Jack Holland. Everyone loves Jack, and he won’t get the wrong idea…. After all, Jack Holland would never actually be interested in a woman like Em. Especially not with his beautiful ex-wife creeping around, angling to reunite ever since he rescued a group of teens and became a local hero.

But when the wedding festivities take an unexpectedly passionate turn, Em figures it was just one crazy night. Jack is too gorgeous, too popular, to ever end up with her. So why is she the one he can talk to about his deep, dark feelings? If Em is going to get her dream man, she’ll have to start by believing in him…

It’s no secret Kristan Higgins is my favorite romance author. I really love her characters from the Blue Heron series and am so looking forward to her newest book!

What books are you waiting on?

Waiting on Wednesday

I’ve been experiencing in the past couple days something that very rarely ever happens to me: Reading Burnout. Normally it doesn’t take me any more than 2-3 days to read a book – unless it’s the weekend when I can often knock one out in a day. But I started the last book in the Vampire Academy series on Sunday and I still have 8 chapters to go and I just don’t feel like reading it. I was planning on being able to post a review of the whole series today, but since that’s obviously not happening, I’m going to do another first-time Meme: Waiting on Wednesday, a weekly event that spotlights upcoming releases that we’re eagerly anticipating (hosted by Breaking the Spine).

The book I’m waiting on is:

Origin (Lux, #4)

Origin by Jennifer Armentrout
Book #4 in the Lux Series

Synopsis (from Good Reads):

After the successful but disastrous raid on Mount Weather, he’s facing the impossible. Katy is gone. Taken. Everything becomes about finding her. Taking out anyone who stands in his way? Done. Burning down the whole world to save her? Gladly. Exposing his alien race to the world? With pleasure.

All Katy can do is survive.

Surrounded by enemies, the only way she can come out of this is to adapt. After all, there are sides of Daedalus that don’t seem entirely crazy, but the group’s goals are frightening and the truths they speak even more disturbing. Who are the real bad guys? Daedalus? Mankind? Or the Luxen?

Together, they can face anything.

But the most dangerous foe has been there all along, and when the truths are exposed and the lies come crumbling down, which side will Daemon and Katy be standing on?

And will they even be together?

Anyone who has read some of my previous posts knows that the Lux series has become on of my favorites. The first three were all published when I stumbled across this series and I devoured them. Waiting for Origin has been agonizing. I’m so looking forward to this book coming out on Tuesday, August 27th!
