We all love books here, but I thought I might start dedicating some posts on Saturdays to highlight one of my other loves – TV!
What I’m watching

Teen Wolf on Amazon Prime.
An average high school student and his best friend get caught up in some trouble causing him to receive a werewolf bite. As a result they find themselves in the middle of all sorts of dramas in Beacon Hills.
Why I’m Watching
I’m not really a Halloween person, but as the weather starts to get more Fall-like, I get in the mood for spooky/scary/horror movies/tv shows. I went looking for what was available on the streaming services I use and came across Teen Wolf. I remember watching a few episodes when it first came out years ago, but didn’t really remember anything about it besides liking Stiles. I decided to give it another try and I really enjoyed it. There is a certain amount of ridiculous you need to get past (even once you get past the title), but I loved the friendships and the humor and the times when it could be surprisingly emotional. Seasons 2 and 3 were my favorite and season 6b (the final season) was probably it’s worst, but it was still definitely worth the series binge and I blame this show as the reason why I read so little last month.
Obviously, though, the best part of the show is Stiles. He’s one of the very few humans among all his supernatural friends and while he started off as mostly comic relief, he brings a lot of heart to the show. I’m a definite Stiles fangirl now.
Watch If You Like…
Buffy the Vampire Slayer
The Vampire Diaries
Scream (the tv series)
I didn’t know there was a remake of the movie; I’ll have to check it out. You should try the version I grew up with, with Michael J Fox. It’s so wonderfully 1980’s.https://amzn.to/2HWUtdr And that film was based on an older B-movie called I was a Teenage Werewolf starring Little House on the Prairie’s Michael Landon.
The Michael J Fox movie is the Teen Wolf of my childhood too (though it’s been so long since I’ve seen it I don’t really remember it). This show is basically nothing at all like the movie, actually. It was still enjoyable, though!
I don’t like spooky shows, but this might work for me. I’m actually reading a thriller right now to get in the Halloween mood.
It’s more paranormal than spooky, I think. You should watch it so you can fangirl over Stiles with me 🙂
LOL. Do you think it’s 12, almost 13 year-old appropriate?
Ummmmm I’m not quite sure. Probably depends on the kid. There is a decent amount of violence and some gore. Some cursing. Some “adult situations” (it was originally on MTV so nothing super graphic). I was a very sheltered child at that age and probably would have been scandalizes by the “adult situations” but I would’ve been ok with everything else haha.
Oh, that’s right. I probably won’t watch it with her then. Maybe in a couple of years. She tends to embarrass easily.
