WWW Wednesday is hosted by Taking on a World of Words.
What did you recently finish reading?
Mexican Gothic by Silvia Moreno-Garcia. I was, unfortunately, disappointed in this one. But it’s probably my own fault for not realizing this was a horror book.
Varsity Heartbreaker (Varsity #1) by Ginger Scott. This took me awhile to get into, but I overall enjoyed it.
What are you currently reading?
Four Days of You and Me by Miranda Kenneally and Drummer Girl by Ginger Scott. I’m not terribly interested in either one of these yet. I’m feeling pretty book-slumpy, though.
What do you think you’ll read next?
The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes (The Hunger Games #0) by Suzanne Collins. No, I still haven’t started this one yet. I’m determined to start it soon, though.
I recently completed Francine Rivers The Masterpiece. I’ve always wanted to read it. And I’m glad I loved it. God reaches out to everyone of us in a way we can connect with him.
I’m currently reading Ellen G. White’s Child Guidance. And I’m loving the emphasis on educating kids from a very early age. Not when they’re up to ‘school age’.
My mom just recently read The Masterpiece and she loved it, as well. I hope to give it a try soon. I’m glad you’re enjoying your current read, as well!
*Doing a happy dance that Varsity Heartbreaker ended up being okay for you.* I can how it might take some time to get into.
Your currents reads… I get that, too. 4 Days was one I kind of had to push myself with because of the flashbacks. And Drummer Girl probably wouldn’t have been one I recommended to you. Not exactly sure why. I liked it, but it’s not at the top of my list for her.
The timeline jumping in 4 Days is definitely different. The characters’ immaturity was a little much for me, but I was trying to remind myself that they’re freshmen in the first part. I felt like I was in the mood to try another Ginger Scott book, but nothing else in KU was really standing out to me, so I thought I’d try Drummer Girl. It’s super angsty and insta-lovey. I’m still making my way through it, though 🙂
I’m sorry Mexican Gothic wasn’t a better read for you. That cover is stunning though!
I am definitely still in love with the cover!
I am looking forward to your thoughts on the Suzanne Collins book. I can’t decide if I am going to read it or not. I was so excited when I first heard about it because I was told it would be about Mags. It was disappointing to find out it is about Snow.
Yeah, that’s what is kind of keeping me from picking it up yet. My sister was a mega-fan of the original books and she didn’t love this one, which is also making me cautious.
I’ve seen four days of you and me around a lot at the moment. It looks like a great read!
Here’s mine http://bookwormsanonymous.blog/2020/06/03/www-wednesday-15/
I’m hopeful it will get better for me 🙂
I like the cover of Four Days Of You And Me! I hope it will picks up for you.xx
Thanks! I hope so too!
Hahaha do you have high expectations for the new Collins book? I hope it won’t disappoint!
Thanks! My sister was a Hunger Games mega-fan and she thought this book was just ok, so I’m trying to keep my expectations low.
The Mexican Gothic is on my TBR list! I’m sorry it didn’t work out for you! I haven’t heard of Varsity Heartbreaker but it sounds like a good read. I’m glad you enjoyed it!
I hope you enjoy Mexican Gothic more than I did. As long as you are expecting a horror story, I think you probably will!
I want to read the new Hunger Games book. I just read a review of it! I have a huge haul on my Kindle, but first I have to read The Mysterious Affair at Styles by Agatha Christie for work. Should be good, though! I like the cover description on Drummer Girl – I feel like they have a sense of humor about the story! Did you enjoy it?
I’m still not super far into Drummer Girl. It actually doesn’t really have much humor. It takes itself very seriously and is pretty angsty. I haven’t read anything in a couple of days. I’ve been watching lots of tv, though, haha. I hope you enjoy the Agatha Christie book! I need to read more from her.
What are you watching? I finished The Sopranos now I’m going back through Boardwalk Empire.
I’m between binge shows at the moment. I finally found a book I was interested in, so I’ve been reading more and just watching old sitcom reruns in the background. Is Boardwalk Empire a re-watch for you?
It is – I own every season except Season 1, so I started with Season 2. I’ve forgotten some of the plot lines, but you do catch up over time. I may re-watch Bloodline next. Loved that show 🙂
Another one I haven’t seen yet! It’s on my list, though.
There’s only so much time to watch shows, but I’m doing my part 😉
