His Royal Highness by R.S. Grey and Never Have I Ever by Joshilyn Jackson. I’ve been in a weird reading mood for what seems like months now. I’ve barely enjoyed anything I’ve read. His Royal Highness is ok so far, but I’m not super invested in the story or characters yet. I’ve read one chapter of Never Have I Ever and I honestly hated it. I’ve seen so many glowing reviews for it, but I’m thinking it will probably be a DNF for me. I am just completely not in the mood for this type of story right now.

What did you recently finish reading?

One of the Girls by Robin Daniels. I have Kindle Unlimited for a couple months, so that means cheesy contemporaries and romances. This one was pretty cute, though. I loved Nick.

What do you think you’ll read next?

I really don’t know. I’m in such a mood that I have no idea what’s going to catch my interest.

  1. I hate when I’m in moods like this! I’m glad you enjoyed One of the Girls for the most part, though. That was a fun read. R.S. Grey books can be hit or miss for me. I haven’t read this one yet. I am surprised about Never Have I Ever, though. I’ve heard so many good things about it. Maybe give it a couple more chapters? I’ve read some of her older, women’s fiction books and loved them. But back to the mood. Maybe you need something completely different than your normal. Maybe you should give Kennedy Ryan’s The Kingmaker a try. It’s out of your norm and it might “reset” you. I always swap to a thriller or dark romance (what I don’t read often) when I’m in that kind of mood and it helps me.

    • One of the Girls was pretty cute. Those books definitely know how to write very sweet male leads. R.S. Grey is usually pretty hit or miss for me, too. I think if I wasn’t in such a mood I would be enjoying this one a little more. I’m thinking I might stop for now and try it again the next time I have KU. I was surprised Never Have I Ever so immediately turned me off. It sounds like a book that is usually right up my alley. I just can’t make myself pick it back up right now, but I still have the library loan for another 2 weeks, I think, so there’s still hope for it. That’s a good idea about trying The Kingmaker. I will probably try that or do a re-read next. Sometimes re-reads will get me out of a funk.

    • I’ve seen such wonderful reviews for Never Have I Ever, so part of me does want to push through, but right now I just can’t make myself pick it back up. Everything just sounds awful to me lately and I can’t seem to kick it.
