October 2017 Recap

October was kind of a rough month for me. Work was pretty awful. A lot of new fee changes that we weren’t really trained on or understand went into effect and we’re all kind of scrambling to figure things out. There was also some pretty significant family drama. Lots of big changes ahead. If you are a praying person, please say a prayer for my family if you think of it. And a special thanks to Deanna for letting me vent to her! …In book news I am proud of the number of reviews I ended up posting, but I didn’t read as much as I would have liked. I took part in a book tour – just my second in the 4 years I’ve been blogging. I decided that I won’t be signing up with that particular tour host again. I found the information and graphics they provided hard to use (though I will take responsibility that it was probably my own user error that I couldn’t get them all to format correctly) and they did nothing at all to promote my leg of the tour. I only saw a couple of tweets from them during the whole tour actually. Maybe that’s normal for blog tours? Please share your experience with various blog tour hosts in the comments, if you have any.

Fall TV Disappointments:

I have not found one new show that I liked enough to watch past the pilot. I tried: Young Sheldon, 9JKL, Seal Team, Valor, Ghosted, and The Good Doctor. After watching Once Upon a Time to find out how they explained having Hook on the show without Emma I am now done with that show. The only reason I watched it the last couple seasons was because I was a Captain Swan shipper. I also am finding  the second season of Riverdale pretty disappointing so far and am really hoping it gets better soon.

  1. What a month you have there! You read many books but sorry that none are 5 stars for you.. That’s too bad that Stephanie Perkin’s book is not so great. I didn’t like the cover so I didn’t read it. Good thing too because I don’t want to DNF another book haha.. I still have yet to start 13 Minutes.. hopefully this Nov I will get to it. I hope you will have a better reading month in Nov!

    • Thank you! I had a couple of good 4 star reads, so that helped. I kind of liked the cover for There’s Someone Inside Your House, but it’s pretty much the only thing I liked about it. I definitely don’t recommend it. I look forward to hearing what you think of 13 minutes!

  2. I’m really sorry about the work and family drama. I pray everything works out. Still a good reading month with everything going on!! I need to check out that series if you loved it so much!
I only do blog tours for Colleen Hoover and Taylor Jenkins Reid now. It’s too much pressure for anything else. They don’t promote my blog, either.

    • Thank you! I appreciate it! You definitely need to read the Imogen Grey books. They are super dark, but very good! It does kind of make me feel better to hear that other tour hosts don’t promote the tour stops, but I have to say that doesn’t make a lot of sense to me.

  3. I will say a prayer for you! Sorry about your family and work drama. Hopefully things will get better with both.

I am looking forward to the Imogen Grey series. I have books 1 and 2 and plan on starting it soon. TV is a disappointment with me too. I keep losing series I like but am not picking up anything to replace it. I haven’t tried any new series and it sounds like I am not missing out on anything. I just found out this is the Middle’s last season and I am bummed.

  4. I’m not having much look with TV shows this fall either. The only new one I’ve enjoyed so far is The Brave and I’m still only half sold on that one. I also gave up on OUAT this year as well.
