Major Reading Slump – Poll Time

I’m having a major reading slump. Nothing at all sounds good. These are the three books that I have started right now and am only a few chapters into each. I need some opinions here.

The Winner’s Curse

The Winner's Curse (The Winner's Trilogy, #1)

Visions (Cainsville #2)

Visions (Cainsville, #2)

Something Strange and Deadly

Something Strange and Deadly (Something Strange and Deadly, #1)

Any book recommendations to help break me out of the slump?

  1. I know exactly how you feel. I’m in a reading slump now too. It’s horrible, and I’m having trouble getting excited for anything. I might need to take a break from reading and get a fresh start again. Hopefully, I get out of it soon, and I hope you get out of yours too. I’ve heard good things about all of these books, but I haven’t read any yet.

    • It is horrible. Just nothing sounds good. Usually a good re-read will get me back in the reading mood, but not even that is sounding interesting to me right now. Good luck in your reading slump, too. Hopefully something inspiring will come up for both of us.

  2. If you’re in the mood for a really good YA contemporary series, Pepper Jones by Ali Dean was impossible to put down. I read both books in the series twice. If you want a dark dystopian that is more real than you want to admit, check out Article 5 by Kristen Simmons.

If you want something really different, but good, in an epic, literary sense, check out Follow the River by James Alexander Thom.

    • Thanks! Illusions of Fate by Kiersten White came available from the library today, so I started it and it’s kept my interest and I’m almost done with it. Hopefully this will break the slump, but I still don’t feel like anything else I have available right now is going to be interesting enough to read.

  3. I found that reading books outside my normal genres helps break my slumps. I read tons of fantasy/sci fi so a good contemporary fiction book or a mystery will reset my reading.
